Australia’s first same sex marriage will take place in Melbourne on October 27.
Under legislation being considered in Parliament, people who choose to buy the marriage certificate will be given an opportunity to vote for it in next week’s parliamentary ballot.
Australian Marriage Equality says if the opposition is to succeed, the Australian people would be forced to choose between repealing the postal vote and becoming part of the same-sex marriage community.
The Marriage Equality campaign spokesman, Brendan O’Connor, said the decision was a blow for opponents who claimed a ban on same sex marriage would hurt people and undermine the authority of the Parliament.
“We think the decision today represents one more example of how the Marriage Party is seeking to keep us out of Parliament while they try to put a very vulnerable member of Parliament through a parliamentary process that will actually make her the victim here in Australia,” he said.
A postal ballot system, in which people would be asked to choose whether their party supports the same-sex marriage movement or not, would ensure there was no one single winner in all Australian states and territory.
Australia’s constitution says the state government can no longer discriminate in favour of people on the bas파라오 카지노is of sex.
Mr O’Connor said the majority of people in Australian society supported marriage equality, but some religious communities objected to same sex marriage.
A government spokesman said the government was a partner with the community.
“We continue to support Australia’s traditional marriage system, and recognise the traditional roles of heterosexual and homosexual relationships, but these traditional roles need to be respected,” the spokesman said.
He said all of Australia’s states and territories would be able to continue to allow their voters to choose their laws on same sex marriage, and any ballot system, whether postal ballot or some other process, should be made subjec인터넷 바카라t to judicial review.
But the opposition says people could easily become victims of this process if postal voting was found to have been unreliable and unfair.
